Turn screen time into create time. Filupen is a rechargeable 3D drawing pen that lets your child lift a flat drawing off the page and hold it in their hands. No app, no screen, no setup — switch it on and draw.

Why parents choose Filupen

  • Low temperature, ≤ 40°C. It uses low-temperature filament, so the tip stays warm rather than hot. Safe and non-toxic — designed to be handled by children, not just supervised near them.
  • They start with a win. The booklet has 30 outline templates. Your child lays the clear sheet over the page, traces the shape, peels it off and joins the pieces. Something recognisable on day one — not a blank page and a shrug.
  • No cable while they create. Rechargeable battery, so they can work at the table, on the floor or in the car. Charges over USB.
  • Made for small hands. Chunky grip, one drawing button, adjustable speed, and a stand to rest it in between pieces.
  • Best for ages 6-12.

What's in the box

  • 1 × Filupen 3D Pen — Blue or Pink
  • Booklet with 30 drawing templates + clear tracing sheet
  • Pen stand
  • USB charging cable
  • 1 × 5M starter filament — colour selected at random
  • Child-safe scissors
  • Nozzle cleaning needle

Choose your kit

  • First Creations — £27.99 £34.99. Everything above, with one 5M starter filament. Enough to make their first pieces from start to finish.
  • Full Colour — £34.99 £44.99. First Creations plus the 20-colour pack: 20 colours × 5 metres = 100 metres, so 105 metres in total. For £7 more they get the whole palette. Most people pick this one.
  • Two Creators — £69.99 £89.99. Two pens in the colours you choose, two full kits and two 20-colour packs — 210 metres of filament in total. For siblings who'd rather not share.

The 20-colour filament pack is not included with First Creations — it comes with Full Colour and Two Creators, and is also sold separately.

Questions parents ask

Is it safe? Yes. It prints at ≤ 40°C with low-temperature, non-toxic filament, so the tip is warm to the touch rather than hot. We'd still sit with a younger child for the first session or two, as you would with any craft tool.

What age is it for? Six to twelve is the sweet spot. Younger children do well tracing the templates with an adult alongside; older ones quickly move past them and start inventing.

What if filament stops coming out? Usually a small piece left in the tip. With the pen warm, clear it with the cleaning needle included in the box.

How long does the charge last? Long enough for a full creative session. Charge over USB between projects.

Can I buy more filament? Yes — the 20-colour, 100-metre pack is available on its own.

Something real on day one

No blank page, no guesswork. The booklet and the tracing sheet give your child a path to follow from the first minute.

Trace a shape

Open the booklet at one of its 30 templates, lay the clear sheet over the page and follow the outline with the pen. The plastic sets in seconds and does not stick to the sheet.

Peel it off

Lift the finished piece away from the sheet. Trim the loose ends with the safety scissors in the box.

Stand it up

Join the flat pieces together and the drawing becomes an object. That is the moment they run to show you.

Everything they need to start creating

Open the box and go. Nothing else to buy on day one.

Questions parents ask

The honest answers, before you buy.

Is it safe for my child?

Yes. Filupen prints at 40°C or less using low-temperature, non-toxic filament, so the tip is warm to the touch rather than hot. That is what separates it from the 3D pens that melt PLA at 200°C. We would still sit with a younger child for the first session or two, as you would with any craft tool.

What age is it right for?

Six to twelve is the sweet spot. Younger children manage well tracing the templates with an adult alongside them; older ones quickly move past the booklet and start inventing their own pieces.

Will they actually be able to make anything?

Yes, and that is what the booklet is for. It comes with 30 templates, and the first pieces are flat shapes traced over the page, which is why they work. Standing figures come a few sessions later, once they are joining pieces together.

What is the difference between the three kits?

First Creations is the pen and everything needed to start, with one 5-metre filament. Full Colour adds the 20-colour pack, so 105 metres in total, for £7 more. Two Creators is two of everything, for siblings.

What if filament stops coming out?

Usually a small piece left in the tip. With the pen warm, clear it with the cleaning needle included in the box. It takes a few seconds.

How long does the battery last?

Long enough for a full creative session, and it charges over USB between projects. They can draw with no cable attached, which is the whole point.
